Kenneth C. Moore’s practice has focused on environmental law and commercial litigation for more than 35 years, starting with the conclusion of his clerkship for US Circuit Judge Harrison L. Winter on the Fourth Circuit. Ken is Squire Sanders’ Chief Ethics Counsel and for more than 15 years he has spent a substantial proportion of his time in the field of professional ethics counseling our lawyers around the globe. Ken also provides advice on legal ethics and governance issues to a number of clients.
Ken has handled trial and appellate cases in federal and state courts. His environmental practice encompasses counseling, litigation, and the negotiation and drafting of extensive consent orders. He has appeared before state environmental authorities and the US Environmental Protection Agency in a variety of administrative proceedings.
Ken regularly represents major clients in the petroleum, chemical and other manufacturing industries. Once again this year he has been named in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, The Best Lawyers in America (for more than 20 years), The International Who's Who of Environmental Lawyers and the 2010 list of Ohio Super Lawyers.
Ken has represented diverse clients in commercial and environmental litigation from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses. A substantial portion of his docket includes large cases with multimillion dollar stakes that require years of effort and leadership of a team of lawyers. In addition to a variety of business cases, Ken has also maintained a broad-based environmental practice under all of the major federal environmental statutes and their state counterparts including the Superfund Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. He has chaired steering committees and acted as lead counsel for industry in drafting settlement agreements at several major multi-generator Superfund sites. His environmental litigation focuses on complex cases with novel legal issues, unusual facts and large liability exposures, often arising out of corporate acquisitions.
Ken is a member of the American, Ohio State, Cleveland Metropolitan and Federal Bar Associations. He is chair of the Hiram College Board of Trustees and the Board of Trustees of Laurel School.
