Masao Yoshida

Masao Yoshida, in addition to general corporate transactions, focuses on copyright, patent and intellectual property-related matters involving computer systems, software and other high-tech industries. Masao advises clients on system development, patent protection and copyright infringement in the areas of information systems and software.

He has filled various posts on committees organized by Japan’s Ministry of Economic Trade and Industry (METI), Agency for Cultural Affairs as well as the Fair Trade Commission of Japan involving the legal protection of computer programs; legal issues related to multimedia, networking and digitalization; and contract problems in information technology. Masao has frequently lectured as well as written articles on these subjects.

He is the author of Handbook for Software Trade and Contracts, published by Kyoritsu Shuppan Co., Ltd. in 1989, a long-selling book for 20 years.

From 2006 to 2008 Masao served as chair of Japan’s METI Study Group on Trade Practices and Contracts for More Reliable Information Systems, and coordinated the development of MEIT’s model contracts for information technology, which is often referred to in trade of information systems.

He is a member of the Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association.
