Wendy Hunter

Wendy Hunter is a partner and head of our London Pensions Practice Group, having joined Squire Sanders in 1993. Her particular expertise covers advising employers and trustees on all aspects of pensions law including pension scheme mergers and de-mergers, scheme documentation and pension aspects of corporate transactions including implications of public to private sector transfers. She has a special interest in public sector pensions and leads the Squire Sanders national Public Sector Pensions Group. Wendy is a member of the legislation committee of the Society of Pension Consultants and a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers. She frequently contributes to pensions and legal press and is a regular speaker on pensions matters.
Representative Experience
- Advising trustees and employers on pension scheme mergers and de-mergers including for trustees of the pension arrangements of several regulated utilities.
- Advising on the pensions aspects of outsourcing arrangements including public to private sector transfers.
- Setting up a new industry-wide multiple section multiple benefit structure (defined benefit and defined contribution) scheme for the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
- Advising on major benefit restructuring involving the sectionalisation of an electricity group.
- Advising trustees and employer on moral hazard issues involved with corporate transactions including clearance applications.
- Advising on the pensions implications of numerous corporate restructurings often involving the negotiation of apportionment or withdrawal agreements and the use of contingent assets such as letters of credit and guarantee.
