Craig Hansen is a partner in Squire Sanders' Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group and is a nationally recognized restructuring lawyer, having played prominent roles in some of the largest and most complex restructurings in recent years. He is best known for representing debtors, although Craig also has an active practice representing hedge funds and private equity funds, creditors committees, and strategic and financial investors in a wide variety of industry and market sectors.
Craig is consistently named in The Best Lawyers in America and recognized by Thomson Reuters as a Southwest Super Lawyer. He is also ranked in Corporate Counsel Magazine as one of the best restructuring lawyers in the United States. In addition, Craig is a Fellow in the prestigious American College of Bankruptcy Lawyers.
Having spoken at more than 50 conferences and seminars, including chairing panels at the annual National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, Craig is a nationally recognized speaker on a variety of restructuring topics. In addition, he has authored or co-authored more than 20 publications relating to bankruptcy and restructuring. He is the co-author of the Executive Guide to Corporate Bankruptcy, published by Beard Publications, and the co-author and executive editor of Advanced Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Practice, a three-volume treatise published by Aspen Law Publications.

(counsel to hedge funds); ASARCO LLC (counsel to company); Stuart Entertainment (lead counsel to debtor); Gold River Hotel and Casino (lead counsel to debtor); Silicon Gaming (lead counsel to company); Phar-Mor (counsel to acquirer); Selmer Industries/Integrated Resources (counsel to acquirer); MicroAge (counsel to acquirer); Cachet Homes (lead counsel to company); and Taro Properties LLC (counsel to company).
Craig is a former member of Squire Sanders' Management Committee.

- Acting as lead debtor counsel to Eurofresh, Inc. in its successful Chapter 11 filing involving the restructuring of approximately US$300 million in debt securities, which restructuring involved a US$35 million rights offering to existing bondholders as part of the plan of reorganization.
- Acting as lead debtor counsel to the Baptist Foundation in the largest failure of a nonprofit organization in US history, involving approximately US$1 billion in debt and US$1.4 billion in total liabilities. The successful reorganization resulted in an approximate US$650 million cash recovery to creditors and other stakeholders.
- Serving as lead counsel to LS Power Equity Advisors, one of the largest bondholders in the successful reorganization of Calpine Corporation, which restructured approximately US$22.5 billion in total liabilities.
- Serving as lead debtor counsel to Centrix Financial, which originated and serviced more than US$4 billion in subprime automotive loans through more than 600 dealer relationships.
- Acting as lead debtor counsel to Drug Emporium, one of the largest drug store chains in North America, with annual revenues of approximately US$1.9 billion and almost 15,000 employees.
- Serving as lead debtor counsel to National Airlines, a Las Vegas-based airline operating an all-Boeing 757 fleet, in proceedings involving more than US$1.4 billion in total liabilities.
- Acting as special restructuring counsel to Phoenix-based America West Airlines in connection with its successful Chapter 11 filing.
- Serving as counsel to the official creditors committee in Mesaba Airlines, a regional feeder airline for Northwest Airlines. The successful reorganization plan resulted in all creditors receiving full recovery in cash.
- Acting as lead restructuring counsel to Grand Casinos, the largest shareholder and bondholder in the Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
