Amy Cadle Hocevar

Senior Associate

Amy Hocevar focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation before state and federal courts. She has represented clients in a wide variety of matters including class actions, multidistrict and multijurisdiction litigation.

Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Amy served as a law clerk to The Honorable Deborah Cook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, where she gained experience in criminal law, civil procedure, immigration, contract law and trademark law. She also served as a law clerk in the Ohio Supreme Court.

Amy is a member of the Squire Sanders eDiscovery & Data Management Team, which serves as a resource for lawyers and clients in matters involving the preservation and discovery of electronic documents.

Amy is a frequent author and speaker on the topic of electronic discovery including electronic document retention and destruction and compliance with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure relating to electronic discovery.

Amy was selected for inclusion in the last three editions of Ohio Super Lawyers – Rising Stars, a listing of the top up-and-coming lawyers in Ohio.

    • Providing counsel in an adversary proceeding against a former officer and director of a bankrupt steel manufacturer.
    • Representing a manufacturer in multidistrict litigation against allegations of antitrust violations.
    • Obtaining dismissal of a putative class action lawsuit brought by physicians against a health insurance provider challenging the insurer’s claims handling and reimbursement practices.
    • Acting as a key member of a national counsel team to a US subsidiary of an international food company in claims that one of its products was responsible for workplace injuries.
    • Obtaining the dismissal of litigation alleging successor liability for environmental contamination.
    • Obtaining a favorable settlement in a putative class action lawsuit brought by watercraft purchasers against several financial institutions challenging their lending practicesActing as lead counsel, pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, in an appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit involving claim of actual innocence in a habeas case.
