Trevor G. Covey

Associate

Trevor Covey’s practice focuses on litigation and international arbitration.

Trevor represents clients in complex commercial, mass tort and products liability disputes in state and federal courts, as well as in domestic and international arbitrations.

Prior to joining Squire Sanders and while attending The Ohio State Moritz College of Law, Trevor received the CALI Award for Excellence in Legal Research and the Ernest Karam Book Award for Excellence in Legal Writing and Research.

As a research assistant for Professor Edward Foley, he researched the legal consequences of how state election codes throughout the United States addressed voting controversies. Trevor also clerked for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.

Representative Experience

    • Defending a large automobile part manufacturer in a products liability action in state court, which resulted in a favorable settlement.
    • Obtaining a full dismissal with prejudice in defense of an insurance company in a products liability action brought by another insurance company for indemnification and contribution.
    • Winning treble damages and attorneys’ fees on summary judgment for a municipal school district against a former employee and non-employee accomplice.
    • Representing two major steel producers in separate commercial arbitrations under American Arbitration Association Rules.
    • Defending a major petrochemical company in claims of chemical exposure.
    • Representing both sovereign nations and investors in Bilateral Investment Treaty disputes.
