Terry Billups focuses his practice on general labor and employment matters including public and private sector employment litigation at the state, federal and administrative levels. He has represented private and public sector employers in a variety of employment matters including defense of employment discrimination claims brought under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and other state and federal claims arising from employment decisions. Terry also spends considerable time reviewing and drafting employment policies, handbooks and agreements.
In addition to his labor and employment law practice, Terry provides counsel to a private college on various legal matters concerning higher education. He also provides counsel to public school districts on student discipline and employee grievance matters, and frequently provides training to school administrators regarding compliance with the First Amendment and various discrimination laws.
In 2008, Terry was named a member of
Kaleidoscope Magazine’s “Forty Under Forty Club,” a group of young professionals recognized for their business and community leadership.
Prior to joining the firm, Terry served as a federal law clerk for The Honorable Joe Billy McDade of the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He also played professionally in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots.
Terry is a member of the American, Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, as well as the National Football League Players Association.
