Saber Williams VanDetta focuses her practice on complex business litigation. She has represented clients in a wide variety of matters including constitutional challenges, class action defense, product liability litigation, trade secret matters, contract disputes and employment litigation. In connection with the myriad matters she has handled, Saber has appeared and argued before state and federal courts throughout the United States and has arbitrated matters under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. She was selected for inclusion in Ohio Super Lawyers – Rising Stars in 2009, 2011 and 2012, a listing of the top up and coming lawyers in the state.
Representative Experience
- Obtaining a complete defense verdict in arbitration on behalf of a domestic research and development subsidiary of a Spain-based company accused of trade secret misappropriation by a Canada-based company in the emerging cellulosic ethanol field.
- Successfully obtaining a reversal, on appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, of certification of a multistate consumer class action against an international retailer.
- Obtaining as appointed counsel pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, a partial reversal of conviction on Speedy Trial Act grounds in an appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
- Representing a domestic affiliate of a Belgium-based meatpacking company in a Commerce Clause challenge to a state statute including obtaining injunctive relief to allow the company to operate during the litigation.
- Acting as a member of a national counsel team to an international tire manufacturer to defend against securities fraud class action claims.
