Stephanie Perraton

Partner

Stephanie Perraton is a partner and heads our licensing practice in the UK. Her particular expertise covers all aspects of licensing including alcohol, entertainment and late night food sales.

Stephanie has specialised in licensing since 1992. Her clients include a wide range of operators from listed companies to entrepreneurs. The applications she has dealt with range from stadiums and full service hotels to small bespoke catering outlets and off-licences. Stephanie prides herself on providing a one-stop shop for clients and takes on the management of all their licensing requirements. The team is readily available to deal with problems and queries.

Stephanie has experience in all aspects of regulatory law and more recently the Security Industry Act. The Act deals with the licensing of door supervisors. In addition she can advise on the licences required for playing copyright music by PRS, PPL or VPL, Civil Ceremonies and Special Treatments.

Stephanie also provides support on corporate, property and insolvency transactions involving licensed premises.

Stephanie is listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers and Partners’ Chambers UK as a leading individual for licensing.

Stephanie and her team are in the top tier ranking in The Legal 500 UK: The ‘extremely thorough’ team regularly advises in relation to large-scale venues both locally and nationally, including the new LG Arena; the entrance area at the National Exhibition Centre; and the major redevelopment of Edgbaston Cricket Ground. It also manages all licensing requirements for the owned and managed estate of InterContinental Hotels Group in England and Wales. Practice head Stephanie Perraton ‘always finds a solution’.

Representative Experience

    • Managing of all aspects of the licensed estate for a client operating more than 300 separate units incorporating different “brands” at railway stations, airports and city centre locations.
    • Handling applications for a wide variety of premises including offices, sports stadiums, universities, museums, hospitals and galleries on behalf of a catering company.
    • Advising various Stadiums, concert venues and exhibition halls on all aspects of the Premises Licence, including alterations, variations, signage, security industry applications and embedded restrictions.
    • Advising on several prosecutions and potential prosecutions for offences arising out of the Licensing Act.
    • Attending a review hearing convened by a local authority following problems at a large outdoor event and successfully avoiding countless additional conditions being added to the licence.
