Squire Sanders Represents First Solar in Chilean Acquisition
10 January 2013
A Squire Sanders team has represented First Solar in its acquisition of Solar Chile S.A., a Santiago-based solar energy development company. First Solar is a leading international provider of photovoltaic (PV) solar energy generating facilities which use its advanced thin-film modules.
The acquisition of Solar Chile is First Solar’s first “significant” move into Latin America. Solar Chile has a portfolio of early- to mid-stage utility-scale PV solar power project assets totaling approximately 1.5 gigawatts (GW) in several regions across northern Chile, including the Atacama Desert region, which offers the highest solar irradiance in the world.
The Squire Sanders team was led by partner Kevin Levey and associate Nathan Santamaria with support from partner Alvaro Mestre and associate Purvin Patel.
