Simon Miller

Simon Miller is a partner in Squire Sanders' Litigation team and is co-leader of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group working with global practice group leader James D Thomas. Simon was formerly head of Hammonds LLP's Leeds office and was international department head of Hammonds LLP's Commercial & Dispute Resolution practice. Simon is a solicitor advocate and has appeared in many interim applications, conducted trials and appeared in the Court of Appeal. Simon has wide ranging commercial litigation experience.

General Commercial and Trading Disputes
- Acting for a Japanese printing company in a dispute with the Dutch Revenue following its seizure of a printing press after an administration of a local printing company.
- Advising one of the UK's mail order businesses in a multimillion pound dispute with its carrier.
- Advising a Europe-based telecommunications company in a warranty dispute with the vendor of its England- based subsidiary.
- Acting for a UK IT plc in arbitration proceedings in California arising out of the sale of its UK subsidiary.
- Acting for a number of UK corporations and financial institutions in fraud claims against former and current employees involving freezing injunctions and search and seizure orders.
Shareholder and partnership disputes
- Acting for an international law firm in a multimillion pound dispute with a number of its former partners.
- Advising a UK law firm on a claim against another national UK law firm for poaching a team of lawyers in breach of their partnership covenants.
- Advising an international law firm on a jurisdictional and partnership dispute with the former head of one of its European offices.
- Acting for the minority shareholders in a high value, high profile claim for unfair prejudice in relation to the diversion of a corporate opportunity.
- Representing a minority shareholder in injunction proceedings to restrain the use of pull provisions in a shareholder agreement.
Banking, Pensions and Professional Negligence Claims
- Advising one of the UK's clearing banks on structured alternative dispute resolution in relation to a portfolio of claims valued at more than £50 million.
- Representing a bank in Spain in relation to a number of high value disputes arising out of a €400 million securitisation.
- Acting for the trustees of a number of pension schemes in disputes as to the true benefits to be paid to members following an acquisition.
- Advising an international law firm in relation to a claim against its auditors.
- Advising a number of UK corporations on claims against their actuarial, tax and investment advisers.
