Simon Carrington
Associate

Simon Carrington is an associate in our Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group based in our Birmingham office. He became qualified in September 2011 after completing his training with Squire Sanders.
Since qualifying into the IP practice, he has had the opportunity to undertake a large amount of general commercial and IP work. This has included advising clients on trademark and design right issues, undertaking a full intellectual property review for a client and drafting various commercial documents such as deeds of assignment and novation for an international fashion company.
During his two-year training contract with Squire Sanders, he also spent time in the employment, pensions and banking practices.
Recent Experience

Assisting a government department in relation to a major trademark infringement and passing off action in the High Court against an infringer of a well-known trademark.

Assisting the world’s leading manufacturer of a prestigious brand of car and caravan covers in its defence of an alleged design right infringement. The claim was vigorously contested and the client was recently successful in the Patents County Court.

Assisting the largest metal container manufacturer in the world in relation to the development and implementation of an IP strategy which includes carrying out a full intellectual property review.

Acting for an international fashion company in relation to its brand licensing strategy.

Drafting standard terms and conditions for the sale and purchase of goods and services for various clients in a variety of industries and sectors including retail, defence and information technology.
