Associate

Sarah Gonem is an Associate Solicitor in our Labor and Employment practice and specialises in all areas of contentious and non-contentious employment law, including TUPE; restructuring and redundancy; long and short-term sickness absence; and disciplinary and grievance matters. She deals with a wide range of Employment Tribunal claims including unfair and constructive dismissals, unlawful deductions, discrimination and redundancy, in addition to advising clients on day-to-day general employment matters.
Representative Experience
- Representing a major high street retailer in an Employment Tribunal and getting the employee’s claims for unfair dismissal and disability, race and religious discrimination struck out for having no reasonable prospects of success or being out of time.
- Conducting the employment-related due diligence for the £32.8 million management buy out of a telecommunications group and advising our corporate department on the employment implications of this transaction
- Working closely with our pensions department and advising in relation to the employment implications of closure of a final salary pension scheme for a research association
- Conducting detailed Employee Handbook reviews for several banks and other companies, as well as providing general advice in relation to contracts of employment and service agreements
- Guiding the UK branch of an international weather data company through a redundancy process
- Providing advice in relation to miscellaneous contentious and non-contentious issues, to both private and public sector clients
