Samrad Nazer's practice focuses primarily on cross-border debt finance which covers acquisition and leveraged finance (senior, mezzanine), restructuring, real estate finance, project finance and structured finance including securitisations and derivatives.

Samrad has acted for UK, European and US private equity sponsors, lenders, borrowers, hedge funds and other financial institutions. These engagements have been in a broad range of industries including insurance, energy and renewable energy, sports and leisure, real estate, travel, technology, manufacturing and consumer products.  His clients include European private equity firms, several hedge funds and institutions in the finance services sector.

Samrad’s practice also includes providing debt advice to many of the English Premier League and Championship Football Clubs and he has advised on many of the football takeovers, refinancings and restructurings in the UK acting for the clubs, purchasers and sellers.

Reflecting the credit crisis and the economic downturn, Samrad’s depth of experience has most recently been sought by a variety of clients for a diverse range of syndicate financing issues as well as debt restructuring transactions.

Samrad has lived and practised in England (London) and Japan (Tokyo) and has previously been seconded to Bear Stearns investment bank.

  • Advising on the sale of Travel Republic to a subsidiary of the Emirates Group.
  • Advising the seller in relation to the sale of Manchester City Football Club to Abu Dhabi United Group for Development.
  • Acting for financial institutions, hedge funds and insurance companies in, amongst other things, their lending, bonds and derivatives arrangements with Lehman Brothers.

  • Acting for a Swedish private equity house in numerous acquisitions and investments in the real estate sector in the UK and mainland Europe.
  • Advising the purchaser of Blackburn Rovers Football Club on its acquisition of the club and subsequent refinancing.
  • Advising a major UK banking group in relation to the implementation of liability-driven investment techniques for a major public body.
  • Advising Leicester City Football Club and the seller Milan Mandaric on the acquisition of the club by Asia Football Investments and general financing arrangements.
  • Advising the purchaser of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club on its acquisition of the club and general financing arrangements.
  • Advising HSBC in relation to the acquisition financing of Quartal Flife OY by Investis Limited.
  • Advising a major Spanish banking group in relation to their €500,000,000 residential backed securitisation and derivative arrangements.
  • Advising Good Energies on its investments in the renewable energy sector in the UK.
  • Advising Bridgepoint Development Capital on the refinancing of Merlin Claims.
  • Advising Gordon Brothers International on the refinancing of retailer Hein Gericke.
  • Advising China Development Bank on various debt finance matters.
  • Acted for Smurfit Kappa in the €4 billion merger & refinancing with Kappa and subsequent IPO and re-financing.
  • Acted for lenders Sankaty Advisors (Bain Capital) on debt trading matters.
  • Acted for private equity house GTCR on the $1 billion acquisition and reorganisation of Audatex and subsequent IPO.
  • Advising Sun Capital on senior trade receivables and mezzanine facilities provided by GE Commercial Finance, GE Factofrance and Investec on the acquisition of Lee Cooper Group.
  • Advising ABRY Partners on the senior and mezzanine acquisition facilities arranged by RBS on the acquisition of Language Line.
  • Advising Veronis Suhler Stephenson on the senior facilities arranged by RBS and Barclays respectively on the acquisitions of Sherston Publishing Group and Grenada Learning Group.
  • Advising Bain Capital in relation to the acquisition of Ideal Standard.
  • Advising Darby Private Equity on investments in the CEE region.
