Robert is a specialist fraud lawyer acting primarily for banks, asset based lenders and other financial institutions. He is an expert in advising clients on complex fraud scenarios and is known for his creative and commercial solutions. Robert's work often involves obtaining freezing injunctions, search and seizure orders and other ancillary relief. Robert also acts extensively for financial institutions, advising them on complex disputes, guarantee and indemnity claims.
Robert also advises credit insurance companies on disputed claims. He routinely deals with a plethora of commercial disputes.
Robert lectures to clients and prospective clients regularly; he talks on issues such as fraud prevention, asset recovery and litigation strategy. He has appeared on ITV News at Ten commenting on commercial fraud. He has been awarded lecturer of the year by the Asset Based Finance Association.
Representative Experience
- Acting for a major bank against directors of a commodity trading business. Advising the bank on its response to a £15 million fraud including obtaining wide ranging injunctive orders. Reaching a commercial settlement.
- Acting for a credit insurer in dealing with a £15 million claim under the policy arising from £100 million + commercial fraud.
- Advising an ABL on a fictitious invoicing fraud; tracing monies overseas and obtaining a worldwide freezing order and making a full recovery.
- Advising an Irish bank in relation to a £20 million fraud claim against the directors of a customer to whom the financier provided a stock and invoice finance facility.
- Advising an investor who had financed a magazine business in relation to the fraudulent activities of directors.
- Advising overseas investors in relation to a dispute with an investment bank involving a Russian share scheme.
