Enterprise Users of Communications Services

Squire Sanders regularly assists government and corporate users of voice and data communications services with the contractual and regulatory issues involved in acquiring and updating such services. We help multinational clients establish large private networks, comply with applicable regulatory requirements and successfully navigate burdensome regulatory regimes such as prohibitions on the use of private data networks to carry international voice traffic. During the past two decades, we have assisted one of the world’s largest aerospace and defense contractors in its initial development of an international private network, its recent system-wide conversion to digital and the addition of wireless components.

We also assist clients in negotiations with major wireless carriers regarding the replacement of privately owned radio communications systems with commercial wireless services including the purchase and installation of dedicated base stations and in-building bi-directional amplifiers. We provide counsel to one of North America’s largest producers of steel on negotiating contracts for the replacement of its privately held wireline and wireless communications systems with services provided by commercial communications providers.

Our representation of private enterprise clients in communications acquisition matters includes:

  • Participation in strategic planning
  • Development of RFPs
  • Assessment of responses
  • Participation in negotiation
  • Preparation of contract documents
