Robert Amicone is a trial lawyer concentrating in complex commercial litigation. Robert has litigated matters in the areas of corporate defense, employment disputes, professional liability, class action defense and media cases.He was selected for inclusion in the 2012 edition of Ohio Super Lawyers – Rising Stars, a distinction that recognizes lawyers under the age of 40 or those in practice for 10 years or less.
Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Robert was a litigation associate with a Columbus-based law firm. He is a member of the Federal, Ohio State and Cincinnati Bar Associations.
Representative Experience
- Obtaining dismissal of a federal multimillion-dollar breach of contract and warranty action on personal jurisdiction grounds.
- Obtaining summary judgment in a putative class action involving claims for violations of Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act (OCSPA) and Federal Truth in Lending Act (TILA) for the defendant lender.
- Providing counsel to one of Ohio’s largest newspapers in a contract dispute involving litigation in both Ohio and New York courts.
- Obtaining a favorable arbitration award dismissing all of a former employee's claims against his former employer seeking an equity interest in his former employer worth several million dollars.
- Obtaining summary judgment dismissing plaintiff's claims for breach of a commercial trucking contract that yielded approximately US$30 million of revenue per year.
- Providing counsel to a local hospital in connection with a breach of contract dispute involving approximately US$400 million.
- Obtaining confirmation of an arbitral award dismissing a putative class representative's claims based on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Ohio Corrupt Practices Act.
- Successfully preventing a defendant domiciled in Germany from a compelling German-based arbitration of a claim brought in Ohio courts.
