Education
Squire Sanders has represented colleges and universities, and school districts, counties, municipalities, states and other public bodies, in the financial arena since the beginning of the 20th century, and continues to be on the cutting edge of public law and tax exempt finance issues affecting these entities. Squire Sanders consistently ranks among the top US law firms serving as bond counsel in (K-12) and higher education finance.
Squire Sanders has participated in financings for many of the great private and public institutions of higher education throughout the United States, and represents state-assisted and private institutions of primary and secondary education on a widespread scale. We have completed financings for hundreds of school districts and other municipal entities, as well as for innovative multi-borrower school programs serving developmentally disabled students, emotionally disturbed students and blind and deaf students.
Beyond advising on single financing transactions, our work also includes developing and implementing, at both the state and institutional level, financing programs for public universities payable from general revenues, from dormitory revenues and from student facilities fee revenues. In each case, Squire Sanders lawyers developed the concept and structure and prepared the necessary implementing legislation and financing documents.
