Columbus Summer Program

View the Columbus NALP form.

The Columbus office's practice is divided into six broad practice areas: business, healthcare, public law, litigation, labor and employment, and environmental law. The business law group is involved in everything from mergers and acquisitions to state and local taxation. The healthcare group handles healthcare transactions, managed care, Medicare and Medicaid, as well as regulatory and legislative issues. In addition to representing government entities at all levels, the public law group has a growing Ohio legislative services practice providing sophisticated counsel on legislative and regulatory issues. The litigation group has an extensive docket of commercial, environmental, public and other litigation matters. The environmental group serves both public and private clients with respect to federal and state environmental statutes and regulations and administrative rule making.

The Columbus office considers both first- and second-year law students for its summer associate positions. The program lasts eight weeks.

In addition to their work in the six broad practice areas, many lawyers in the Columbus office dedicate their time to pro bono work. During a recent summer, a summer associate was directly involved in the firm's pro bono representation of a prisoner in a 1983 civil rights action. The summer associate researched the law, drafted briefs and went to the prison to interview the client.

Summer associate compensation is highly competitive with the local market.
