Greta Kearns focuses her practice on complex litigation matters including toxic and mass tort, product liability, employment, intentional tort and commercial litigation. She has represented some of the world’s largest chemical and pharmaceutical companies in significant high-profile cases in state and federal courts across the United States. Greta is a hands-on lawyer who is highly experienced in all aspects of discovery and trial, with a particular emphasis on high-level strategic case development, witness examination and defense, and oral advocacy. She works closely with world-renowned scientific and medical experts as well as national teams of trial lawyers to develop and execute the client’s chosen case strategy.
In addition, Greta has a diverse practice related to the maze of laws affecting the employer-employee relationship, with a focus on employee health and safety matters. Greta advocates for employers in courts and before regulatory agencies, and counsels them on minimizing their exposure while handling difficult issues related to workplace injuries and exposures, intentional tort claims, OSHA compliance, drug and alcohol testing, leaves, terminations and discipline. She has handled varied matters involving insurance coverage, employer noncompliance and premium disputes, successor liability, managed healthcare, medical reimbursement and self-insurance issues. Her clients span a variety of industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, automotive, mining, healthcare, life sciences and transportation.
Greta is a member of the Squire Sanders eDiscovery & Data Management Team and is a frequent speaker at seminars and training for managers and legal professionals on cutting edge topics such as litigation strategy, eDiscovery and managing electronic assets, non-traditional approaches to reductions in force, genetic discrimination, employee drug and alcohol testing, and workplace investigations.
Greta has been recognized by her peers as an Ohio Super Lawyer each year since 2007 in a survey distributed by Law & Politics magazine. She is a member of the ABA Litigation and Tort and Insurance Practice Sections, Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association and Women Lawyers of Franklin County. She is active in the local community regarding mental health issues.
