Fred A. Summer

Fred Summer focuses his practice on securities and corporate finance matters such as public offerings, 1934 Act compliance antitrust counseling, and all forms of structured finance transactions including asset securitization, trust preferred securities and REIT preferred securities. He heads the firm’s securities law group.
He also is involved regularly in all varieties of hybrid and convertible debt offerings, private equity transactions and going private transactions and has extensive experience with asset securitization transactions and whole loan sales involving student loans, auto loans, credit card receivables and home equity loans.
More recently, he has been actively involved in a wide variety of capital market transactions on behalf of bank holding companies in connection with the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and related government programs.
Fred is listed in the most recent edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
Fred is a member of the American Bar Association’s Federal Regulation of Securities Committee and its Structured Financing Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Corporation Law Committee and the Columbus Bar Association’s Securities Law Committee. He was an adjunct professor at Capital University Law School where he taught a securities regulation course.
