Douglas Povich focuses his practice on general business and regulatory representation, with an emphasis on representing telecommunications, information services, technology and emerging growth companies.

Douglas’ general business representation includes counseling clients with respect to the organization of high technology companies and venture capital and other private equity investments. His regulatory practice includes assisting clients in obtaining licenses and other authorizations necessary for completing business transactions, manufacturing and marketing communications equipment, operating mobile radio and microwave radio communications systems, and providing international voice and data communications services.

Douglas has handled US and international regulatory and transactional matters for wireless communications service providers, competitive local exchange carriers, Internet telephony and other information service providers. He has participated in US and international rulemaking proceedings governing the regulation of broadband fixed wireless services, the auction of radio spectrum and a variety of transactional matters including asset purchases, facilities lease agreements and management contracts, and interconnection and Internet telephony agreements.

In addition, Douglas has advised investment banking and venture capital firms on communications industry transactions and trends. A frequent speaker on communications issues affecting the wireless, competitive carrier and intelligent transportation industries, he also is a co-author of the Spectrum Regulation Handbook.

Douglas is a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association and the Legal Issues Committee of ITS AMERICA.
