Phillippa Canavan

Phillippa Canavan is a lawyer in our Employment practice based in our London office. Phillippa advises clients on contentious and non-contentious employment law. She has particular expertise within the agency sector, and was seconded in-house to Hudson Global Recruitment Company for an 8-month period. During her training contract, Phillippa has also worked in our Birmingham office and our associated office in Turin, Italy.
Representative Experience

Successfully managing, advising upon and defending Tribunal claims of unfair dismissal, victimisation, race discrimination, disability discrimination, sexual harassment, equal pay and unlawful deductions from wages.

Advising on a range of day-to-day employment-related issues including disciplinaries, grievances, family friendly issues, data protection requests, equality issues, redundancies, absences from work and poor performance.

Advising upon the termination of employment of senior executives.

Advising upon the practical implications of the Agency Workers Regulations 2010, which came into force in October 2011, as well as providing business solutions and revised contracts.

Conducting a comprehensive review of clients' terms and conditions of employment and a complete range of employment related policies and procedures.

Advising on the enforcement of existing restrictive covenants on ex-employees and preparation of new restrictive covenants.

Negotiating TUPE terms in a commercial agreement between an agency and a major supermarket chain.

Advising upon the collective consultation process when attempting to change employees’ terms and conditions.

Coordinating and obtaining advice from numerous jurisdictions in order to provide practical advice on complex and sensitive issues.

Drafting employment warranties and exploring employment related risks involved in corporate transactions.
