Peder Garske’s practice focuses on financial, commercial and international litigation. Peder’s extensive experience includes complex financial and corporate governance issues including breach of fiduciary duty, accounting, fraud, debt and securities claims, RICO, foreign corrupt practices, and proceedings brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other enforcement authorities.

Peder has litigated cases in the areas of fraud, financial accounting, sovereign liability, debt, securities, shareholder lawsuits, breach of contract, director and officer liability, corporate governance, intellectual property, and international law. His international experience has spanned the globe including North and South America, Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Asia. He has represented clients in all major international arbitration forums including the International Chamber of Commerce, American Arbitration Association and International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes.

• Playing the leading role in winning a high profile jury trial in New York State Court against Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei and the Brunei Investment Agency in the successful representation of former advisers charged with breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and theft of client assets.
• Representing the trustee in the Bernard Madoff matter seeking the international recovery of billions of dollars.
• Winning a defense verdict in an international accounting fraud case in federal court in Kansas City.
• Representing a plaintiff in a complex financial dispute involving the forensic tracing, valuation and ownership of more than US$1 billion in assets.
• Successfully defeating a multimillion-dollar corporate fraud and breach of fiduciary duty case at trial in Virginia state court.
