Paul has over a decade’s worth of experience of supporting major commercial transactions in both the public and private sector with a particular focus on large-scale IT and outsourcing projects (both first generation and, the re-tendering/re-negotiation of existing arrangements). Paul has supported major transactions across a wide range of industries and sectors including, the outsourcing of critical business functions by FSA regulated business subject to SYSC 8 compliance requirements; projects subject to European Union procurement rules; and, projects involving significant programmes of service transformation and business change. Paul also has significant experience of advising clients on issues relating to information security management and, has provided both crisis management and ongoing support to a number of clients involved in high-profile data loss incidents. In addition to his core practice areas, Paul also provides more routine day to day support to numerous clients operating in many different markets and industries in connection with all aspects of their commercial and contractual requirements. Paul routinely wins praise from his clients for adopting a pragmatic approach to matters and for developing contractual structures and arrangements designed to achieve client’s wider commercial objectives.
Representative Experience
- Advising Electronic Data Systems (now Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services) in connection with its contract to develop, operate and maintain the IT systems of the UK Department for Works and Pensions, one of the largest outsourced IT estates anywhere in the world.
- Advising a major UK and international retail group in connection with its project to appoint a consortium of suppliers to operate and maintain its critical IT systems and to undertake a significant programme of service delivery change.
- Advising a leading international supplier of IT services on the renegotiation of its contract to provide outsourced processing services in the UK and Ireland to one of the world’s largest banking groups.
- Advising a UK investment house on the procurement, negotiation and subsequent renegotiation of its outsourcing arrangements for the provision of back office functionality.
- Advising the medical devices division of a leading global healthcare and consumer goods group on the procurement of an online data collection system for use in a fifteen year programme of global clinical trials.
