Nathan Santamaria’s practice focuses on energy-related matters including global natural gas supply contracts and renewable energy development.
As an associate, Nathan has drafted numerous pleadings and briefs in international energy contract disputes, particularly with reference to natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) pricing issues in markets in Europe and Asia. He has also drafted numerous energy project documents for major solar photovoltaic panel and project developers regarding large-scale solar projects in the Southwest United States. Also working in energy-regulatory matters, he has participated and written pleadings in both FERC and state-level public service commission rate cases on behalf of gas and electric utilities and their major industrial customers.
Nathan interned for Mexico’s sole oil and gas company PEMEX, where he negotiated and drafted indemnity contracts for a major foreign equipment supplier and advised Mexico’s Secretary of Energy on liquefied natural gas (LNG) transportation-liability issues.
Before pursuing a career in law, Nathan was a professional journalist who helped write, produce and direct a show for National Public Radio.
Representative Experience
- Advising clients on negotiating legal and regulatory hurdles for development of biodiesel plants in Georgia and Wisconsin.
- Advising on a major contract dispute in arbitration between global liquid natural gas suppliers and distributors in Europe.
