Michael Moyle

Michael Moyle has had more than 30 years of experience in US-Japan business transactions, initially at Graham & James and now at Squire Sanders. He advises both Japan-based and US-based clients on corporate matters including acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, and the establishment of new entities, and commercial and intellectual property matters including technology licensing, research and development agreements and product distribution. Michael was named as one of Silicon Valley’s top corporate lawyers by
San Jose Magazine in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Michael is a frequent speaker before professional and business organizations in the United States and Asia including the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren), the Japan Association of Corporate Executives (Keizai Doyukai) and the Japanese Institute of International Business Law (Kokusai Shoji Homu). He also has lectured on international business law and practice at Stanford Law School and the University of California, Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law.
Michael is past president and a director emeritus of the Japan Society of Northern California and is a past director and auditor of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California. He is a member of the executive committee of the Orientation in USA Law Program at the University of California, Davis, and is active in US and international bar association sections and professional organizations relating to international transactions and technology issues. Michael received the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) Award for Outstanding Contributions to JETRO Activities in 2003.
Michael pursued graduate studies in Kyoto, Japan for three years in the law faculties of both Doshisha University and the University of Kyoto. During that period he served as an editor of the Mathew Bender publication
Doing Business in Japan.
