Mitchell Ball's practice focuses primarily on Commercial Property and Property Finance. Mitchell also has experience in more general commercial work including joint venture agreements, service contracts and reorganisations.

Mitchell leads in relation to Retail Sector clients in the Midlands Region and also plays a lead role in relation to the development of the firm's Education practice.

Mitchell is responsible for the firm's involvement in the Birmingham Legal Advice Clinic, a pro-bono law clinic in Birmingham City Centre. He also acts as a business mentor to The Prince's Trust.

The Legal 500 UK 2009 describes Mitchell as "dedicated".

The Legal 500 UK 2010 states Mitchell "has the ability to get to the nub of issues very quickly".

Representative Experience

    • Advising a major supermarket chain in relation to its acquisition programme.
    • Advising several UK and overseas banks in relation to the funding of commercial property transactions, including Santander, Unity Trust Bank and Bank of Scotland.
    • Advising Cala Finance in relation to Joint Venture//Development Service Agreements for a series of residential development sites.
    • Advising several funders in relation to "step-in" and work-out arrangements for development sites.
    • Acted on behalf of Bank of Scotland in relation to the £77.5m financing of Priory and Canon House, Birmingham.
    • Acting on behalf of Advantage West Midlands in relation to acquisition/joint ventures at several sites, including the Longbridge car plant in Birmingham.
    • Dealing with the finance aspects of several forward funding transactions.
