Mitchell Thompson focuses his practice on general corporate taxation and international tax matters. He has extensive experience advising clients on US, non-US and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and restructuring transactions as well as structured tax credit transactions including New Markets Tax Credits.

Prior to rejoining Squire Sanders in 2004, Mitch served for six years as tax counsel for TRW Inc., then a multinational technology and manufacturing company, where he had tax planning responsibilities and contributed to key corporate tax initiatives including TRW’s acquisition by the Northrop Grumman Corporation and the subsequent disposition of various business divisions by Northrop.

Mitch has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America each year since 2007. He is also recognized as a 2012 and 2011 Ohio Super Lawyer, a distinction honoring the top five percent of lawyers in the state.

Mitch is a frequent speaker at the Cleveland Tax Institute and has served on its Executive Committee. In addition, he is the coordinator of the Cleveland International Tax Forum, on the board of directors of the Cleveland Tax Club and a member of the American and Cleveland Bar Associations.
