Miharu Furihata

Senior Attorney

Miharu Furihata represents US and international clients in a wide range of corporate issues including mergers and acquisitions, securities law compliance, incorporation, venture capital investments, secured transactions, licensing and real estate transactions. In addition, she has significant experience handling labor matters.

Early in her legal career, Miharu served for several years as in-house counsel for NEC Corporation in Japan where she worked on license and joint development agreements and joint ventures for the company’s semiconductor group.

Miharu is co-author of “Introduction to the Japanese Immigration Law,” an article published in the International HR Journal. In November 2001, she gave a presentation on creditors’ rights to Japanese companies in Silicon Valley and advised on debt collection procedures and safeguards. Since then, she has been a regular speaker at Doing Business in California, a monthly seminar in the firm’s Palo Alto office for Japanese businesses.

    • Advising major Japanese companies regarding their investments in high-tech companies in Silicon Valley.
    • Conducting sexual harassment investigations and advising on other employment issues for US subsidiaries of Japanese companies.
    • Assisting a Japanese business in commercial and employment litigation.
