Melanie Williams' practice focuses primarily on investment and funding of development projects and property tax driven transactions. Melanie has particular expertise in respect of the acquisition of hotels, development and refurbishment projects. Melanie also handles asset management work for investors and developers and landlord and tenant matters.
Prior to joining Squire Sanders Melanie spent two years in a practice acting for retail clients and completed a six-month secondment in house at Boots Properties.
Melanie also sits on the Board of Directors of the Colmore Business District “BID” which is a Business Improvement District within Birmingham City Centre comprised of key members of the business community working collectively to invest in projects and services to improve the business environment.
Representative Experience
- Advising Parkridge Developments Limited and their special purpose vehicle, Dickens Heath Development Company Limited in relation to the acquisition, development and disposals on a £100 million major mixed-use site in the Midlands, including retail, leisure and residential elements.
- Advising a major finance company in relation to the arrangement of finance for development projects and the negotiation of joint venture and charge documentation.
- Acting for ProLogis, one of the UK's leading warehouse developers.
- Acting for Matrix Realty Investments Limited, a national medical centre developer.
- Acting for a number of private property investers in the acquisition and development of properties let to hotel operators.
- Acting for Advantage West Midlands in relation to the 220 acre flagship i54 site in Wolverhampton.
