Meghan E. Hill

Associate

Meghan Hill represents companies in employment and complex litigation matters. She regularly represents companies in wage and hour collective and Rule 23 class actions in federal courts, including multidistrict litigation (MDL), wherein she utilizes streamlined discovery mechanisms. She has extensive experience in litigating class certification issues and managing electronic discovery issues in the class action context. Her working knowledge of MDL procedures and practices makes her an invaluable resource to Squire Sanders and to clients embroiled in complex litigation.

She also has extensive litigation experience before federal and state courts and administrative agencies including the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She regularly defends employers against intentional tort, whistleblower, discrimination and wrongful termination claims.

Meghan also has jury trial experience in state court. She was a member of the trial team that won a defense verdict in a complex class action litigation involving claims of negligence, nuisance, trespass, strict liability, fraud and breach of contract stemming from the cleanup of a former oil refinery. For this trial, Meghan drafted a motion in limine that eliminated approximately US$70 million in damages and a motion for directed verdict that granted judgment for a named defendant.

In addition to her litigation work, Meghan advises companies regarding all aspects of employment law including hiring, terminations, executive contracts and a wide variety of policies.

Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Meghan served as a law clerk for The Honorable James A. Wynn Jr. of the North Carolina Court of Appeals (now Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals) and a legal intern for Senator Michael DeWine.

Meghan is the co-author of “Wages and Hours – An Employer’s Guide” published by the American Chamber of Commerce in 2011.

Meghan was recognized as a Rising Star in the 2011 edition of Ohio Super Lawyers–Rising Stars magazine, a distinction that recognizes the top 2.5 percent of Ohio lawyers under the age of 40 or those in practice for 10 years or less.
