Margaret Comey plays a lead role in our rare earth elements and critical materials initiative, focusing resources in metals and mining, chemicals, intellectual property, corporate finance and public advocacy in support of the restart, growth and protection of the US critical materials supply chain. Margaret is a senior public finance lawyer in our Cincinnati office, who also has a background in corporate finance.
Margaret serves as bond counsel, issuer’s counsel and underwriter’s counsel for tax exempt and taxable debt financings, and has been lead counsel for local government issues including new issues and refundings for municipalities, counties, townships and special districts issuing general obligation, special obligation, revenue and mortgage revenue debt instruments. Her experience also includes tax increment financing, conduit issues for hospital financings and industrial development projects, due diligence and disclosure. Her corporate finance experience includes public offerings and private placements, Securities Exchange Act of 1934 matters, due diligence and disclosure, and transactions involving closely held corporations.
Margaret has served as counsel on financings aggregating more than $1.5 billion.
She has served on the National Advisory Council to the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and the Hamilton County Tax Levy Review Committee. Margaret is a member of the Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations, the Ohio Township Association and its Law Director Network, and the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association. She is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Margaret is active in the Women’s Capital Club of Cincinnati, and has served on the Board of Trustees of The Seven Hills School, United Home Care/Visiting Nurse Association, Children’s Protective Service and Queen City Foundation, and various of their committees for finance, investment and strategic planning.
