Matthew is a Partner in our Banking and Finance practice based in our Manchester office. Matthew regularly acts for banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers on a wide range of transactions in a variety of sectors with particular experience in acquisition/leveraged finance, property finance (both development and investment), asset based lending and restructuring and refinancing transactions often with a cross-border element.
Representative Experience
- Advising National Westminster Bank PLC and RBS Invoice Finance Limited in connection with the MBO of Greypen Holdings Limited.
- Advising National Westminster Bank PLC in connection with the acquisition of Dentil Eleven Limited.
- Advising Santander UK PLC in connection with a £15.5m plc refinancing.
- Advising Findel PLC in connection with its £445m fundraising and refinancing package.
- Advising a Yule Catto & Co PLC in connection with its £210m financing package to fund the acquisition of a German group of companies.
- Advising Yorkshire Forward (and various Local Authorities) on several state aid compliant grant and mezzanine loan facilities including those in connection with (i) the development of Trinity Walk Shopping Centre, Wakefield, (ii) the mixed use development at Broad Street, Halifax and (iii) the 250 bedroom hotel and 117,000 sq ft office development at Southgate, Bradford.
- Advising EPIC Private Equity LLP (and various associated funds) on numerous transactions including (i) the sale of a portfolio of 12 private equity investee companies to a joint venture vehicle, (ii) the acquisition from administration of the business and assets of "Whittard of Chelsea" and the subsequent financing and refinancings of Whittard Trading Limited and (iii) the refinancing of various portfolio companies including Nexus Industries Limited, Past Times Trading Limited and Indicia Limited.
- Advising Adventure Capital Fund (a provider of finance to charities, community centres and other entities that cannot access traditional debt finance) on over 40 investments including in Headingley Enterprise & Arts Centre Limited, Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre Limited and E:Merge Bradford Community Interest Company.
