Senior Associate

Maria Blohm’s practice focuses on all aspects of dispute resolution: arbitration, litigation and mediation. In particular, Maria has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution including mediation and litigation of complex commercial disputes including cross border related litigation as well as claims before specialised tribunals. Maria has also worked for a US firm focussed on international arbitration.

Representative Experience

    • Advising trustees in professional negligence claims, injunctions and transfer of administration issues against former scheme administrators and actuaries.
    • Acting for representative beneficiaries in pensions claim.
    • Acting for trustees of the Sea Containers 1990 Pension Scheme in connection with equalisation of normal retirement dates.
    • Advising trustees in connection with member complaints and issues including dealings with the Pensions Advisory Service and Pensions Ombudsman.
    • Serving as an assistant advocate in ICC arbitration conducted in Spanish and English for an energy company in dispute with Columbian state agencies.
    • Representing a Chilean mining entity ICC arbitration against manufacturer and supplier of ore conveyor system.
    • Participating in LCIA arbitration for a software supplier against Asian bank.
    • Advising on NAFTA claim advice for railway company against state ministry relating to its foreign investment and trackage rights.
    • Advising on Bilateral Investment Treaty issues relating to possible claims of investor in Argentine electricity distribution company.
    • Acting for a South American government in LCIA arbitration in dispute relating to a concession agreement with the operator of three privatised airports.
    • Advising trustees of a pension scheme in connection with Chapter 11 proceedings of its employer.
    • Assisting US clients in relation to depositions and evidence gathering in England for litigation in the US.
    • Presenting an appeal before Special Commissioners of the Tax Tribunal.
    • Settling a public sector dispute with commercial partner by mediation prior to commencement of litigation.
    • Mediating a complex shareholders’ dispute.
