Lori Smith-Lalla

Lori Smith-Lalla focuses her public finance practice in the area of city, county and local government finance. She has served as bond counsel and disclosure counsel to various cities, counties and authorities and has served as underwriters’ counsel to numerous national and regional underwriting firms.
Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Lori spent 12 years as an assistant county attorney for Broward County, Florida.
Lori is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the Florida Bar’s Local Government Law Section where she has received her board certification as a specialist in the area of city, county and local government law.
Representative Experience
- Serving as bond counsel for the cities of Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach,
Miami Beach, North Miami and Coral Gables, Florida; the South Broward Hospital District; Miami-Dade County, Florida; and Citizens Property Insurance Corporation.
- Acting as disclosure counsel for the cities of Cape Coral, Port St. Lucie, Tallahassee and Hollywood, Florida and Hillsborough County, Florida.
- Acting as bond counsel and disclosure counsel for the city of Miami, Florida and Broward County, Florida.
- Counseling on general obligation bonds, special revenue bonds, certificates of participation, tax increment financings, airport financings, water and wastewater transactions, electric utility transactions, commercial paper programs and variable rate, auction rate and refunding issues including swap transactions.
