Lianne Bulger

Senior Associate

Lianne Bulger has practised in the commercial and intellectual property team in the London office since she qualified in 2004. Lianne is primarily a contentious intellectual property lawyer but also has significant experience in non-contentious intellectual property matters. Her practice is particularly focussed on trade marks, copyright, designs and domain names but with a science background she has also been involved in patent litigation.

In August 2007, Lianne was seconded to Homeserve PLC, where she provided legal advice to the business on general commercial issues, including commenting on/amending draft commercial contracts and explaining the legal consequences of the company’s actions.

Lianne has organised and participated in numerous presentations and client seminars in relation to brands and has participated in a sailing day for the firm’s charity.

Representative Experience

    • Acting for a global manufacturer of garden and household products on numerous IP issues, including acting in proceedings before the CFI in relation to an appeal against the decision of OHIM’s Board of Appeal;
    • Providing trade mark protection and enforcement advice to numerous organisations including an organisation which is responsible for the most popular sporting event in the World, a global document destruction company and a UK Government department;
    • Acting for a US company defending UK trade mark infringement proceedings, which involved the careful consideration of unregistered and registered rights across numerous jurisdictions and the interplay of OHIM proceedings taking place at the same time as proceedings before the national court;
    • Advising a global company providing secure power solutions in relation to the assignment of a significant portfolio of their trade marks;
    • Acting for a well-known UK charity, a successful online travel agency, a major events organiser, a major bathroom product manufacturer and numerous advertising agencies in relation to the recovery of domain names;
    • Acting for an international financial services company, a major UK publisher of greetings cards and a software company in separate copyright disputes in the High Court and in the latter case, the High Court of Justice of the Isle of Man;
    • Advising advertising agencies on copyright, trade mark and design right issues in connection with the use of third party media in advertisements;
    • Advising a major UK manufacturer, designer and retailer of household products on its distribution and licensing agreements;
    • Advising on the IP elements of numerous corporate transactions, including the sale of a global chemicals company with a significant patent and trade mark portfolio.
