Lajos Wallacher

Senior Associate

Lajos Wallacher’s practice focuses on competition and trade laws of the European Union (EU) involving merger control, cartels, abuse of dominance cases and unfair competition rules. With a concentration on consumer protection law, Lajos is experienced in unfair commercial practices, advertising law, EU law (internal market rules, EU courts’ procedure, judicial cooperation in civil matters and private international law) and drafting legislative acts.

Prior to joining Squire Sanders, he was the vice president of the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH), where he was responsible for investigations, enforcement policy and general legal matters. Lajos also worked in the EU law department for the Ministry of Justice and Law.

He lectures on competition law and EU law at various universities and is the author of several articles and handbooks on a variety of legal matters.

Lajos is a member of the Legal Special Examination Committee and the Budapest Bar Association, and an arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
