Kathy Petrey has more than 30 years of experience in public securities transactions. She has served as bond, underwriters’, purchasers’ and credit facility providers’ counsel on a wide variety of tax-supported, utility and project revenue, tax increment and conduit financings. These debt issues have included structures such as tax exempt or tax credit leases and certificates of participation, variable and multimodal interest rates, letters of credit and other credit enhancement facilities, interest rate swap agreements, forward purchase agreements and designated pools. She has been involved in the development of innovative financing techniques for Ohio issuers including federal tax credit bonds, lease-purchase/certificates of participation, nontax revenue financings for economic development projects and synthetic refundings.

Kathy’s transactional experience includes sports stadium, transportation, sewer and water system, airport and convention center financings for Ohio issuers including the Ohio Turnpike Commission and the cities of Dayton, Cleveland, Akron and Cincinnati, as well as numerous financings for school districts and public and private colleges and universities.

She is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association and Women in Public Finance.
