Jons' expertise covers advising on all aspects of tax planning on corporate and property transactions. This includes the sale and purchase of companies, businesses and properties.

Jon has experience of advising on the tax issues associated with property development and property investment as well as PFI and PPP structuring.

Jon has lectured on VAT, stamp duty and stamp duty land tax to lawyers, clients and intermediaries and has also lectured on a stamp duty land tax training course for accountants operated by CCH. Jon is a member of the NSPCC's Birmingham Business Group which seeks to involve businesses with raising funds for the NSPCC.

Jon is listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers and Partners’ Chambers UK as a leading individual for tax law.

• Advising Osborn Securities Limited on tax structuring surrounding the disposal of a GB £40m property development.
• Advising property investors including syndicates of investors on the tax efficient acquisition of properties including the acquisition of a hotel to be operated by Hampton by Hilton at Broad Street, Birmingham which was acquired for GB £32m.
• Advising Live Nation inc on the disposal of 16 theatres (including the Lyceum and Apollo Victoria in London's West End) to Ambassador Theatre Group for GB £90 million.
• Advising Osborn Securities Limited on the structuring and the re-financing of its hotel group and the completion of various Management Agreements with Hilton Hotels.
• Advising shareholders on a GB £400m disposal of South Staffordshire Water plc.
• Advising major UK house builders on the acquisition, disposal and joint ventures of major residential developments.
• Acting for several major UK property developers on the tax efficient structuring of the regeneration city centres around England and Wales.
• Advising UK public sector bodies, including regional development agencies and local authorities on the development of several cities.
• Advising on a number of international company acquisitions and disposals including acting for a FTSE 100 company on an international joint venture.
