Jon Bew is a partner in the asset-based lending team within our Corporate Transactions, Finance & Governance practice. Jon splits his time between our Birmingham and London offices.

Jon has considerable experience acting for both funders and borrowers in all types of asset based lending and other forms of trade finance. His particular expertise covers acquisition finance, supply chain and inventory finance and cross border finance whether through Europe, the US or to more exotic jurisdictions as well as the management of significant portfolio issues. In addition, Jon has worked with many of the asset based lenders on their standard form funding and security documents.

Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Jon worked in accountancy and this experience, combined with years of leading transactions in the asset based lending industry means that he is one of the market leading lawyers.

Representative Experience

• Acting for GE in a US$250 million automotive inventory financing in Europe and the US.
• Acting for the Chesapeake group of companies in an undisclosed value full asset based lending financing in nine jurisdictions worldwide.
• Acting for a funder in the provision of a full asset-based lending re-finance of a major UK energy raw materials producer.
• Acting in the £110million finance and finance re-structure for an international IT re-seller.
• Acting for the funder in a US$350 million turnover financing of a European engine manufacturer.
• Acting on the £75 million re-finance of a global and Australian listed paper and related materials manufacturer.
• Acting for the funder in respect of an accession and amendment to an existing business finance agreement and related additional security requirements.
