John is a partner in our Built Environment Group (Property) team based in Leeds. His particular expertise is in the development and regeneration field where he acts for developers, the public sector, financiers, occupiers and investors.

Representative Experience

• Advising public sector and private sector participants in major regeneration projects – for example Clay Cross town centre regeneration scheme for GMI Rovinian and Wakefield Westgate town centre regeneration scheme for English Cities Fund.
• Advising property companies and others on joint venture property development and investment structures. Examples include the Thorpe Park business park in Leeds, and the Development Partnerships Programme for Yorkshire Forward.
• Acting for Leeds City Council in relation to Headingley Cricket Ground Leeds in connection with a loan to Yorkshire Cricket Club and later restructuring of the loan to accommodate the development of new facilities at the ground.
• Acting for a major food retailer in relation to a number of main store developments
• Advising a Property Development Fund of a life assurance company in relation to two major office schemes in the City of London, and further schemes in Guildford and Maidenhead.
