Jeffrey McGehee is a partner in the international real estate, corporate and finance practices. His practice involves rendering legal advice to US- and Czech Republic-based companies and other companies doing business abroad on a wide range of matters.

In Practical Law Company’s Which Lawyer? Yearbook 2009 Jeff was recommended in the practice area of banking and finance as well as real estate. He was also listed for his real estate practice in European Legal Experts 2009 and Chambers Europe 2010. He is also listed in Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World's Leading Banking Lawyers.

Representative Experience

    • Representing a joint venture of Czech and international developers in the development of approximately 125,000 square meters in the center of Prague into a multifunctional center consisting of an administrative and residential complex and shopping mall (including restaurants, leisure and cultural spots).
    • Representing an international developer in the acquisition and continued development of one of the largest retail shopping mall/office centers in the Czech Republic.
    • Representing an international developer in a variety of mid-range to high-end residential housing projects in Prague.
    • Representing an international real estate investment company in a series of acquisitions of commercial office buildings in the Czech Republic.
    • Representing leading automobile manufacturers in their joint venture greenfield project to build an automotive manufacturing facility in Kolin, Czech Republic.
    • Representing one of the world’s leading financial management companies in a large syndicated loan used to finance the restructuring of a borrowing group (involving more than 20 companies incorporated in five different countries) and to refinance the acquisition of the group’s key commercial properties.
    • Advising a syndicate of international banks in connection with the construction financing of a new five-star hotel to be built in the historic center of Prague and operated by an international hotel operator.
    • Representing an international financial institution in the refinancing of the construction loan used for the development of a large shopping center in Plzen, Czech Republic.
    • Representing an international oil consortium in a variety of syndicated financing transactions totaling approximately US$300 million.
    • Advising a syndicate of Czech Republic-based and international banks acting as senior lenders in a US$400 million power plant project financing in Kladno,
      Czech Republic (the first project finance transaction in the country’s history).
    • Representing a loan and equity financer and other creditors in the restructuring of approximately US$350 million in outstanding indebtedness of a Czech Republic-based steel manufacturing company.
    • Representing the Republic of Macedonia and the country’s telecommunications company in connection with pre-privatization convertible bond and preferred equity financings involving IFC, EBRD and other international investors.
    • Advising the Czech National Property Fund in connection with its contemplated sale of the state’s 51.1 percent interest in Cesky Telecom.
    • Representing a large Italy-based bank in its acquisition of Živnostenska banká in the Czech Republic.
    • Representing two of the largest companies in Croatia in connection with the creation of an international consortium to bid for a GSM license.
