James Hennigan

James Hennigan’s experience is in the sports, brands, intellectual property, and media and advertising sectors. He advises on high-value commercial agreements involving a number of the world's leading brand owners, advertising and marketing agencies, and rights-holders. This also includes advising on all forms of new media arrangements, across all platforms including "branded content", sponsorship, digital media, data aggregation and online advertising.

His clients include advertising and marketing agencies, global brands and sports-rights-holders looking to maximise revenues from their commercial programmes. He also advises start-ups and businesses looking to diversify their operations to utilize further revenue streams. James provides brand and advertising clearance for a number of leading brands and advertising agencies.

He is recognised in legal directories as having "excellent industry knowledge" and described as "talented", "pragmatic and commercial" in the advertising, media, brands and sports sectors.

James is a regular guest speaker at industry conferences and media events, and is also a visiting lecturer at Westminster University on the Advertising and Media LPC course.

James has spent time at the European football-governing body UEFA, where he advises on various contractual arrangements and day-to-day commercial issues in the run-up to a major sporting event.

James is the author of the Media and Sponsorship Chapter for the PLC International Sales and Marketing Practice Manual 2007-2012. He also contributes to a wide variety of sports and media publications, including World Sports Law, Entertainment Law Review, World Intellectual Property Report and Sports Business including recent articles, such as, "Ambush Marketing...How to stay on the right side of the law".
