Jaimie Blueman is an associate in our pensions practice. With more than five years’ experience as a practising pensions lawyer, Jaimie’s expertise includes advising on key aspects of pensions law both in the public and private sectors.
Jaimie's experience includes: advising trustees on statutory compliance obligations, statutory debt issues, scheme closure exercises, the scheme funding regime, re-drafting plan documentation, outsourcing obligations and the pensions aspects of group restructurings. Jaimie has a significant amount of public sector pension scheme experience and has advised on a number of industry-wide schemes, including the Industry Wide Mineworkers Pension and the RPS.

Representative Experience

Advising contractors on LGPS admitted body status (ABS) and associated pension risk (including termination deficit funding obligations) and post-transfer employer obligations generally.

Advising local authorities and housing associations on the admission of contractors to LGPS membership and risk sharing issues.

Advising on the range of arrangements available to contractors for benefit provision following a transfer of staff from public to private sector.

Advising on benefits provided through LGPS, NHSPS, PCSPS and TPS generally in context of transfers from public to private sector.

Producing position papers and negotiating risk-sharing agreements on LGPS participation vs. provision of benefits through broadly comparable GAD certified plans.

Presenting client trainings and various internal trainings on outsourcing and risk sharing issues and solutions.

Advising on the implications of the LGPS (Administration) and (Benefits, Membership and Contributions) Regulations, and pensions obligations on transfers from public sector schemes generally, including on first and second generation outsourcing contracts .

Drafting LGPS admission agreements and associated documentation.

Advising a Japanese corporate on a UK plan closure exercise following a group restructuring and associated employer covenant issues and form of security.

Advising a corporate on a merger of four defined benefit plans and in relation to benefit design options going forward.

Advising a listed group on the pensions law implications of various breaches of banking covenants, its statutory notifiable events duty and the implications for group on the security rights of the trustees of its pension plans.

Re-documenting the defined contribution plan of a large privatised industry employer.

Advising in relation to various employer obligations in relation to the stakeholder regulations and auto-enrolment.

Advising a distressed listed company on the pensions implications of a restructuring and hive out of several viable businesses from a group with an underfunded defined benefit plan, including in relation to a regulated apportionment arrangement approved by the Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund.
