Trade Defense – EU

Squire Sanders has a strong reputation in EU trade defense, having represented clients’ commercial interests in more than 150 antidumping, antisubsidy and safeguard investigations. Our trade team has represented foreign and domestic producers, exporters and importers in a wide range of industries before the European Commission and before other institutions. We assist clients in dealing with all aspects of investigations including drafting questionnaire responses and injury submissions, counselling with regard to on-the-spot verifications and litigating the outcome of investigations before the European Courts in Luxembourg. We proactively advise clients through general trade and in particular dumping audits. Squire Sanders also assists governments in the implementation and application of international trade defense rules and represents them in trade defense-related WTO dispute settlement procedures.

In antisubsidy investigations, our Brussels practice is an industry leader in the EU. We have been involved in the majority of EU antisubsidy investigations initiated in the past 15 years, including the first and only EU antisubsidy investigation against China. We also successfully represent parties in other jurisdictions and in particular before the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Brazil’s DECOM, where we have well-established and recognized expertise.
