Georgina Rankin

Georgina Rankin’s practice focuses mainly on advising in relation to occupational pension plans. Georgina has particular experience in advising both the trustees, and the corporate sponsor of occupational pension plans.

Her expertise covers a broad range of pensions law work including establishing new schemes, winding-up schemes, mergers, de-mergers, the drafting of pension plan documentation, advising on the implications on occupational pension plans of corporate transactions, trustee training, dealing with issues in respect pension plan deficits (including creation, and consideration of solutions to such deficits) and advising on benefit design changes. Georgina also advises trustees of occupational pension plans on investment documentation including discretionary investment management agreements, private equity partnership agreements, hedge fund and swap documentation.

Georgina is listed in Chambers UK 2012 as “one to watch”, and as having "skills well in advance of her PQE."

Georgina is a member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

    • Advising the trustees of a pension plan sponsored by a UK luxury car manufacturer on the implications of its sale.
    • Advising on a complicated demerger of two occupational pension plans.
    • Advising the trustees of an occupational pension plan sponsored by a UK luxury car manufacturer on its entry into, and exit from a Common Investment Fund.
    • Advising a UK tyre manufacturer on the ceasing of accrual in its three occupational pension plans.
    • Advising the trustees of an UK occupational pension plan in the engineering sector on its entry into the Pension Protection Fund.
    • Managing the merger of two occupational pension plans to form a sectionlised pension plan.
