Regulatory Compliance & Counseling
Our environmental lawyers have varied educational and professional backgrounds, including degrees in chemistry, engineering, economics and biology, and job experience in state and federal government as well as in industry. They regularly exercise the wide range of skills needed in an environmental practice including providing extensive counseling on environmental compliance. We are requested frequently by clients to assist in developing compliance programs and to conduct training of key personnel.
As counselors, we are required to keep current with developing case law in addition to understanding the fundamentals of existing laws such as the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA, also known as Superfund), the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) including its Underground Storage Tank (UST) provisions, and the Clean Air Act. Our environmental lawyers also have experience in matters arising under less frequently encountered statutes, such as the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA), the Endangered Species Act, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act.
In conjunction with the accession of countries to the EU, our lawyers are also schooled in the developing environmental laws involving the markets of Europe.
