Dominic Blakeley’s practice focuses on the resolution of general commercial disputes for a large number of UK and international based companies and individuals.
Dominic’s instructions have covered the following areas: bribery and corruption, compulsory purchase compensation, fraud, contracts of insurance, property damage, sale and supply of goods and services and breach of restrictive covenants.
Dominic is regularly instructed in matters which involve both corporate and individual insolvency and is frequently required to issue and defend bankruptcy and winding-up petitions.
Dominic is part of the Squire Sanders team (PDF) advising clients under investigation by the Turks and Caicos Special Investigation and Prosecution Team.
Representative Experience
- Advising one of the UK's largest suppliers and refurbishers of printing machinery on breaches of international sale of goods contracts and on a £750,000 asset finance dispute with a major global commercial bank involving conversion, contribution and fraud claims.
- Advising a global manufacturer of printing machinery on a NZ$1.8m dispute concerning the supply of a printing press.
- Representing a global leader of distribution facilities in a dispute involving complex misrepresentation and estoppel issues relating to a £38.9m development agreement.
- Instructed by one of the UK's leading suppliers of uPVC and glazing products in relation to a £1.2m asset purchase agreement which involved misrepresentation claims and issues of contractual construction.
- Representing two of the UK’s largest development agencies in defending compulsory purchase compensation claims of £1.8m and £2.8m.
- Instructed by one of the UK’s leading electricity distributors to advise in relation to a £600,000 property damage claim and other substantial claims.
- Advising a high net worth individual in relation to allegations of bribery and corruption of foreign officials being investigated by a special investigation and prosecution team in a British Overseas Territory.
