Doris Chen’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investments, real estate and construction, employment and corporate finance, as well as general corporate matters for multinational companies in China. She has been advising foreign investors in their cross-border transactions and their operations in China, and gained considerable experience.
Prior to joining Squire Sanders, Doris worked for the Shanghai office of a leading Germany-based law firm.
She is the co-author of “Everything old is new again for Sino-foreign JVs”, published in China Law Practice (April 2010).

- Advising on a joint venture between a US-based aviation sector manufacturer and a state-owned enterprise in China for a program that the client values at US$1.8 billion.
- Representing a US multinational corporation in its equity acquisition of a state-owned enterprise in China in a new energy industry.
- Representing a China-based enterprise in a proposed public offering on the Frankfurt stock exchange.
- Advising a Germany-based fund in the acquisition of a shopping mall in mainland China.
- Advising a private equity fund in the acquisition of a foreign invested enterprise in China.
- Advising a US-based enterprise on its assets acquisition of an insolvent Germany-based group with a subsidiary in Shanghai.
- Advising a Fortune 500 multinational company in setting up a joint venture regarding a hospital project in Shanghai.
- Advising a US-based medical device production company in entering into the market in China, including without limitation set-up of a medical device trading company in China.
- Advising a leading Germany-based auto parts manufacturer on a package of technical development and part supply agreements with its partners in mainland China.
- Advising on employment matters of a UK-based firm in its China restructuring plan.
